Volunteer Nursing Assistant – Neema Health Centre

Assisted elderly patients with daily living activities including bathing, feeding, dressing, and mobility, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.
Monitored vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, and reported any irregularities to the supervising nurse for prompt action.
Offered emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a sense of trust and psychological well-being.
Helped maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the care environment, ensuring infection control procedures were followed.
Participated in regular team meetings and training sessions on basic geriatric care, wound management, and first aid.
Collaborated with nurses and caregivers in developing personalized care plans for elderly patients with chronic illnesses such as dementia, arthritis, and hypertension.
My name is Gibson Njonjo, and I am writing to express my interest in participating in your volunteer program in the field of nursing and geriatric care. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology and have a deep passion for service, care, and community development.
In 2023, I had the opportunity to volunteer as a nursing assistant at a local community health center in Nairobi, where I supported elderly patients with their daily needs, offered companionship, and helped maintain a clean and safe environment. This experience awakened in me a strong interest in the health and well-being of older people, and it inspired me to pursue further opportunities in this field.
I am especially drawn to Germany’s commitment to social service and its structured volunteer programs, which I believe provide a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully. I look forward to learning from professionals in geriatric care, improving my intercultural communication skills, and gaining hands-on experience that will help shape my future career—possibly in healthcare or social services.
