I am writing to express my interest in the Geriatric Nursing volunteer position available under the Bundes-freiwilligendienst (BFD) program in Germany. With over four years of professional experience in geriatric care, I am enthusiastic about contributing my skills, compassion, and cultural awareness to support elderly patients in your facility.

Throughout my nursing career in Kenya, I have been dedicated to caring for the elderly, primarily at Embassy Wellness Centre, where I assisted patients suffering from chronic illnesses, age-related disabilities, and cognitive disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. My key responsibilities included:

Monitoring vital signs and assisting with medication administration

Providing support in mobility, feeding, and hygiene

Participating in daily physical and mental wellness activities

Communicating with families and care teams to ensure holistic care

Practicing infection prevention and maintaining patient dignity

Volunteering in Germany under the BFD program will allow me to expand my cultural and professional horizons, improve my understanding of global healthcare systems, and give back meaningfully through service. I am eager to learn the German language, integrate into the culture, and support staff and patients with dedication and empathy.

I am a flexible, hardworking team player who thrives in dynamic environments. I possess the emotional intelligence, patience, and respect essential for working with older adults. I am also committed to the BFD program’s values of civic engagement, social inclusion, and mutual learning.
