After graduating from university and while waiting to complete my mandatory national service, I gained practical experience in geriatric care by assisting with daily activities such as eating, mobility, and companionship at Ketu South Municipal Hospital in Aflao whenever their wards were unavailable. It was not a paid role, but I wanted to give back to society alongside the computer classes I organize for children in my community. During one of my holidays, I also took over some caregiving tasks from a neighbor, who is a professional care worker, while she was unwell.

I am writing to express my interest in the Nursing and Geriatric Care program. I am deeply motivated to contribute my skills and experiences while gaining new knowledge through volunteering.
After graduating from university and while waiting to complete my mandatory national service, I gained practical experience in geriatric care by assisting with daily activities such as eating, mobility, and companionship at Ketu South Municipal Hospital in Aflao whenever their wards were unavailable. These experiences taught me patience, empathy, and the joy of making a positive difference in people’s lives. Even though I am not a professional in geriatric care, these experiences made me love the work, as I feel happy when I can put a smile on people’s faces by helping them. Altogether, this has given me a solid foundation in caring for elderly and sick people and strengthened my motivation to volunteer in this field.
In addition, I bring transferable skills such as teamwork, time management, and IT proficiency (including Microsoft Office and basic computer skills), which I believe can also be valuable in my placement. I see this volunteer program as a meaningful opportunity to support others while continuing to grow personally and professionally.
