During my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) training at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), I completed clinical placements at Mbagathi County Hospital, where I gained hands-on experience in caring for elderly patients across medical and surgical wards. My responsibilities included assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility and rehabilitation, providing basic wound care, and ensuring patient comfort and dignity. I worked closely with registered nurses and multidisciplinary teams to support older adults with chronic illnesses and age-related conditions. This experience strengthened my understanding of geriatric nursing, infection control, patient safety, and compassionate, person-centered care, which aligns well with healthcare standards in Germany.

Although I am not a licensed nurse, I have gained meaningful experience in geriatric care through caregiving, volunteering, and community support roles. I have supported elderly individuals with daily living activities such as mobility assistance, personal hygiene, medication reminders, and meal preparation. I am attentive to the physical, emotional, and social needs of older adults and strive to provide care with dignity, patience, and respect. Through this experience, I have developed strong communication skills, empathy, and an understanding of age-related health challenges, including reduced mobility and chronic conditions.
