Professional Background
My name is Lidetaw Mitiku Abebe. I am a Medical Laboratory Technologist, graduated from Addis Ababa University, with over six years of professional experience in laboratory diagnostics at Amanuel Mental Specialized Hospital in Ethiopia.
Through my work in a specialized mental health setting, I have developed strong experience in laboratory support, interdisciplinary collaboration, quality control, and ethical healthcare practice. I am now seeking volunteer experience in Germany in health-related, non-licensed roles, such as mental health support services, public health programs, research assistance, or laboratory-adjacent positions.
I understand that direct diagnostic laboratory work in Germany requires professional recognition. Therefore, my goal is to contribute my skills and experience in supportive, research-oriented, or community health roles, while gaining exposure to the German healthcare system and improving my professional and language competencies.
Motivation Statement
My objective is to gain structured volunteer experience in Germany within the fields of mental health, public health, or medical research support. With a strong laboratory background and years of experience in a mental health hospital, I am highly motivated to contribute in non-diagnostic roles that support healthcare teams, research activities, and patient-centered services, while learning from Germany’s healthcare system.
Why this works
Shows professional awareness (you know the rules)
Aligns with German volunteer programs (BFD/FSJ/NGOs)
Highlights mental health experience, which is in demand
Sounds realistic, respectful, and focused
