I have previous professional experience working with patients at CCHA Hospital in Kenya, where I served as a Nurse Assistant for a period of two and a half years. During this time, I provided direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and medical officers, supporting both acute and long-term care needs.
My responsibilities included assisting patients with daily living activities such as bathing, feeding, dressing, toileting, and mobility support, particularly for elderly and physically challenged patients. I regularly monitored and recorded vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, and promptly reported any abnormalities to the nursing staff.
I supported nurses during medical procedures by preparing patients, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment. I also assisted in administering prescribed oral medications under supervision, wound care, bed making, and repositioning patients to prevent pressure sores.
In addition, I provided emotional and psychological support to patients and their families, ensuring dignity, comfort, and respectful communication at all times. I worked closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care, infection prevention, and adherence to hospital protocols.
