Although I do not have formal professional experience in nursing or geriatric care, I have meaningful personal caregiving experience. I have taken care of my grandparents, including my grandmother who is currently 100 years old and, thankfully, still with us. I have always shared a very close bond with her.
I was responsible for giving her medications at night, keeping her company, assisting her with mobility, accompanying her to the bathroom, and supporting her daily needs with patience and care. This experience strengthened my empathy, responsibility, and commitment to caring for older adults.
My name is María José Arcos and I currently live in Ecuador. I am highly motivated to participate in volunteer work in geriatrics because I have always felt a strong desire to be useful and to support people who need care and companionship.
I find working with older adults especially meaningful, as they deserve respect, patience, and warm human connection. Volunteering in this field would allow me to give back to society, dedicate my time to helping others, and contribute with empathy and commitment.
