**Experience in Geriatric Care** As a trained **Clinical Officer**, I have accumulated practical experience in patient care through my three years of voluntary service at **Yumbe Regional Referral Hospital** in Uganda. During this period, I have been actively involved in providing medical and supportive care to patients, including elderly individuals who often present with chronic illnesses and age-related health conditions. While volunteering at the hospital, I have assisted in the assessment and monitoring of elderly patients by checking vital signs, observing changes in health status, and supporting the implementation of treatment plans prescribed by supervising clinicians. I have also participated in providing basic nursing care such as assisting patients with mobility, maintaining hygiene, administering medications as directed, and ensuring that patients are comfortable and safe. My work has also involved offering emotional support and compassionate communication to elderly patients and their families. Many older patients require patience, dignity, and respectful care, and I have learned to approach them with empathy while ensuring that their physical, psychological, and social needs are addressed. In addition, my clinical training has enabled me to identify common conditions affecting older adults, including hypertension, diabetes, infections, and mobility limitations. I have contributed to patient education by guiding elderly patients and caregivers on medication adherence, nutrition, and preventive health practices. Through this experience, I have developed strong skills in **patient monitoring, compassionate caregiving, teamwork, and communication**, all of which are essential in geriatric care. My continued service in a resource-limited setting has strengthened my resilience and commitment to improving the quality of life of elderly individuals.

Bewerbungstext:

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the position of Geriatric Caregiver. I am a refugee currently residing in a refugee camp in Uganda, and I am a trained and qualified Clinical Officer with a strong passion for providing compassionate healthcare services, particularly to vulnerable populations such as the elderly.

For the past three years, I have been volunteering at Yumbe Regional Referral Hospital, where I have gained extensive hands-on experience in patient care. During this time, I have worked closely with medical teams in assessing patients, providing basic medical care, monitoring vital signs, assisting with treatment plans, and offering supportive care to patients with chronic conditions. This experience has strengthened my ability to provide patient-centered care with empathy, patience, and professionalism.

Working in a hospital environment has also allowed me to develop strong communication skills with patients and their families, particularly when caring for elderly individuals who require both medical attention and emotional support. I understand the importance of dignity, respect, and attentive care when supporting older adults in their daily needs.

Despite the challenges associated with living in a refugee camp, I have remained committed to using my medical knowledge and skills to serve the community. My volunteering experience has demonstrated my resilience, dedication, and genuine desire to improve the well-being of others.

I would be honored to contribute my skills, experience, and compassion to your organization as a Geriatric Caregiver. I am confident that my clinical background and practical experience in patient care would enable me to provide high-quality support to elderly individuals under your care.

Thank you for considering my application. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to further discuss how my skills and experience can contribute to your team.

Yours faithfully,
Labeja Henry
