Dear Selection Committee,
I am applying for the Bundesfreiwilligendienst in elderly care and disability support to work directly in daily care, social support, and structured assistance settings.
For over five years, I have worked as a Sociology teacher at Feza International School. In this role, I managed classrooms, supported over 50 students with behavioural and emotional needs, and maintained structured, safe environments. I worked directly with individuals requiring guidance, consistency, and behavioural support, often in high-responsibility situations that required quick judgement, patience, and clear communication.
Alongside teaching, I have been actively involved in community and inclusion work. As a Global Schools SDG Advocate, I worked with over 30 schools to implement the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on inclusion, equality, and social responsibility in practical learning environments.
With the 45+ Foundation, I co-developed and facilitated the Buddy Talks programme, supporting over 80 older LGBTQIA+ individuals. The programme focused on reducing isolation and strengthening social connection through structured group dialogue. I coordinated sessions, facilitated discussions, and ensured a safe and stable environment for participants with different emotional and social needs. This experience directly aligns with supporting elderly people and vulnerable adults in care settings.
I also work as an acrylic and sketch artist, using creative practice in community and youth engagement work as a tool for communication and emotional support.
Across all my roles, I work in environments that require structure, responsibility, and direct engagement with people’s needs. I remain calm under pressure, take responsibility in real situations, and work effectively with diverse individuals in structured systems.
Through the BFD programme, I will transfer my experience in education, behaviour management, and community support into direct care work. I will actively contribute to daily care routines, social support, and structured assistance in elderly or disability care settings while developing further within the German care system.
